Faculty
Faculty Qualifications
All PMTC instructors are trained in instructional methods and teaching skills so they are able to teach in a manner that permits the educational objectives of their course to be achieved. All faculty demonstrate a command of theory and practice, contemporary knowledge, continuing study in their field, and a minimum of three years of related practical work experience. Instructors in massage theory and practice techniques are licensed or meet the qualifications for licensure in the state of Missouri. Instructors in anatomy/physiology hold a bachelor’s degree or a minor in a healthcare related field.
Mary Pat Bean
Instructor Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Pathology I & II
Mary Pat has been in the healthcare field for over 32 years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Master Degree in Health Care Administration. As a Registered Nurse, Mary Pat has worked in the Operating Room, Emergency Room, Pediatrics, and Labor and Delivery. She was an Instructor for the School of Nursing for 5 years. Mary Pat was a Commissioned officer in the Army Nurse Corps on active duty for 20 years with assignments across the United States and in Korea and Germany. Mary Pat graduated from PMTC in 2002 and has enhanced her massage therapy practice with continued education in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. Life experiences and education in management, leadership, sciences and cultural diversity guides her educational philosophy of the potential and worth of every individual, combined with dedicated study to yield a caring, knowledgeable practitioner.
Polly Brandman-Hughes
Instructor Kinesiology I & II, General Massage I & II
Polly has been a practicing massage therapist since 1990, and has a Bachelor of Arts in French and Classical Languages, 1974 and Masters in Fine Arts in Dance, 1976. She was the Artistic Director for the Springfield Ballet from 1979-1992, Founder and Artistic Director of Wishbone Dance Theatre from 1985-1992, and on the faculty of Southwest Missouri State University, Department of Theatre and Dance from 1985-1991. She is on the faculty of the Ozark Area Dance Academy, performing locally, and is an instructor at Ozark Martial Arts. Polly would like to combine her accumulated background in movement with the healing arts to promote health and well-being through teaching others.
Renate Brodecker
Instructor General Massage I & II, Practice I & II
Renate graduated from PMTC in 2000 and is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Renate has owned a successful floral business as well as having a thriving massage therapy practice at her business, The Comfort Zone, in Eldon, Missouri. She is currently working on her certification in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy and incorporates energetic work into her practice.
Michelle Burns
Instructor Business I & II
Michelle is a 2007 graduate of PMTC, developing a thriving private practice. She has seventeen years of business experience progressing from a receptionist to office administrator to executive assistant to the President of a prominent business firm. Extremely comfortable with Microsoft’s Windows XP Professional computer package software, and dedicated to excellence in efficiency, effective communication, organization skills, and supervisory skills, she will share that expertise with the students in developing their professionalism for a successful massage therapy business.
Tammie Hutchcraft
Instructor Kinesiology I & II
Tammie has always been interested in holistic health and healing. She found massage therapy to be the best way to use that interest while making a difference for others. Tammie has been in private practice in Joplin since her graduation from PMTC in 2001. Her practice focuses on neuromuscular and pain management massage therapy. Tammie has a desire for continued excellence and professionalism in the massage therapy field and is always striving to learn more in order to develop herself and her students.
Everett Johnson
Instructor Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Pathology I & II
Everett is a Chiropractic Physician in Branson and he specializes in soft tissue techniques. He graduated from the Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas in 2006. His clinical interests include sports injuries and reduction of work-related repetitive injuries. Everett is certified in Active Release Techniques and is part of the ART Elite Provider Network. In addition to his chiropractic studies, Everett has completed over 100 hours of acupuncture training and is working toward becoming a certified chiropractic sports physician.
Justine Lines
Instructor Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Pathology I & II
Justine has a teaching certificate with a Bachelors of Arts in History, 1992, Bachelor of Science in Biology, 1994 and Masters of Science in Education, 1996. She has been teaching life sciences in high school since that time, involved in teacher mentoring and student development with innovative programs in science education. Justine was a Missouri Teacher of the Year finalist in 2005. She graduated from PMTC in 2000 and has an active private practice, incorporating neuromuscular therapy, aromatherapy, yoga and energy work. She is dedicated to developing the full potential of every student, teacher and client.
Bonnie Massey
Instructor Clinical Massage Therapy I & II
Bonnie has been a therapist for 18 years and has extensive spa therapy experience. She is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and has served on the Continuing Education Review Panel for the National Certification Board since 1995. Bonnie has represented massage therapists in the state as the President of the Missouri chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association.
Tracy Maxfield
Instructor Kinesiology I & II
Tracy holds both a Bachelor degree from Southwest Missouri State University and a Master Degree from North Carolina. His focus of study in Dance and Choreography has given him an extensive knowledge of the body and how the skeletal and muscular systems work together to create movement. Tracy has been a performer in Branson and regularly performs with the Greater Ozarks Arts Tour in Springfield. Tracy received his Pilates Instructor certification and has been a private and group Pilates Instructor at Studio One Pilates since 2005.
Carol Morlock
Instructor General Massage I & II, Practice I & II, Pathology I & II, Clinical Massage Therapy I & II
Carol received her education degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. After graduating, Carol became a certified medical assistant allowing her to work in a myriad of practices, such as OB-GYN, Urology, General Surgery, and Family Practice. Carol witnessed first hand the effects that stress could have on the body after seeing so many stress related diseases in her patients. She wanted to help her patients in a more direct way. Carol decided to pursue massage therapy and graduated from PMTC in 2001. She has been in private practice since that time.
Kate Murr
Instructor Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Pathology I & II
Kate embarked on a Pre-Medical path in college, and earned a Bachelor Degree in Biology and Psychology with minors in Writing and Global Studies from Drury University. After college, Kate further explored the medical profession as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Eli Lilly and Company. She is currently taking Business courses at Webster University in order to earn her MBA.
Belinda Presley
Instructor Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Pathology I & II
Belinda received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Missouri Southern State College in 1989 and her Master’s Degree in Microbiology/Immunology from Southwest Missouri State University in 1993. She currently works at Cox Health where she serves as the Immunoperoxidase coordinator, a Medical Technologist, Histotechnologist, Pathologist Assistant and Certified Laboratory Scientist.
Rose Mary Snider
Instructor Clinical Massage Therapy I & II
Rose Mary graduated from PMTC’s first class in 1994. She is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, as well as Internationally Certified in Manual Lymph Drainage. She has worked in a hospital, a therapy clinic with multiple practitioners of differing modalities, as well as having her own private practice.
Kathleen Thomsen
Instructor General Massage I & II, Kinesiology I & II, Practice I & II, Business I & II
Kathleen graduated from PMTC's Sixteenth class of Massage Therapists in 2002. She has deemed becoming a massage therapist, "the best decision she ever made." Kathleen has a successful private practice in the Waynesville/Fort Leonard Wood area. She enjoys using different modalities such as hot stones and aromatherapy to enhance her client's experience. Instructing at PMTC has been an inspiration to her as she watches her students transform into professionals.
Mary Witman
Instructor General Massage I & II, Practice I & II, Clinical Massage Therapy I & II
After graduating from Florida's Humanities Center in 1993 for her massage training, Mary opened and operated a successful massage therapy practice. She continued her education in neuromuscular and myofascial release, reflexology, craniosacral balancing, and Bowen. She also received extensive training in the use of flower essences. She enjoys energy work modalities and has become a Reiki Master/Teacher. Before coming to PMTC, Mary taught the massage classes at EduTech in Clearwater, Florida.
